Introducing ‘Enzo’

Back story

With our trip to the Isle of Man approaching fast it was time to seriously consider what car I would be driving around the infamous TT track.

I had a recurring thought in my head: “This could be the only opportunity I get to do this, or at least for a while… Make it count.”

In the stable was a three litre supercharged XF I purchased last year, a recently purchased and recommissioned 2.5 litre S-Type with Sovereign spec interior, and a 4.2 litre supercharged S-Type R.

The XF was the obvious choice, a comfortable ride, plenty of room for luggage, I’d just put a fresh set of Pirelli P Zero’s on it and in Sports Dynamic mode the XF is fantastic car to drive, it really is impressive for its size.

The S-Type R would have been my first choice with it having the Supercharged V8 engine, my close friend Andy Brooks was also taking his S-Type R (that’s another story) and It would have been good to do the trip in both STRs. But with the best will in the world there just wasn’t enough time to get the STR back on the road in time for the trip.

The third car in the stable was a 2.5 litre S-Type which would have made for a very pleasant and comfortable journey but it probably wasn’t best suited for the ‘track’ element of the trip.

I had wanted an aluminium XK for a long time, for me the XK is a stunning design and a well proportioned proper grand tourer.

However at a JDC event in Cosford I stumbled across a convertible F-Type in black with ‘burnt orange’ accents throughout the cars styling.

I was taken aback by this particular example and while in a world of my own I could envisage myself owning this car. And for the first time I thought to myself: I will have an F-Type soon.

It must have been written on my face as when I turned to my friend Andy who was also looking at the car he said: “I can see you in this Dave, you’ll have one of these soon“.

So it was decision time, and after a couple of weeks of trawling YouTube and AutoTrader, I managed to find a low mileage - one owner AWD 380ps Coupe in Firenze red.

The car was originally owned by a lady who lived a few miles from the Jaguar Dealer that originally registered and serviced the vehicle throughout her ownership.
